A Little Something Different

What she wore: denim skirt, white button-up skirt with green flecks, brown strappy sandals with a three inch stacked heel.

Today, I’m feeling a little sassy.  Brace yourself.

Every day while I’m trying to figure out what to blog, I have on recorded CSI, or the local news.  Lately, I find myself wanting to yell at the TV.  Today, you guys will get to hear my responses to some of the stories I’ve seen recently.

Cough Syrup—The New Drug: I’m hardly one to poke fun at teen drug use, but come on, people.  New?  My mother has reported people drinking cough syrup to get drunk when she was a teenager.  That would make this new craze approximately thirty-five years old.    People were doing this when I was a teenager.  Let me tell you, drinking cough syrup while wearing jeans and tennis shoes, and sitting on somebody’s ratty couch while their parents were out was never my idea of a good time.   Want to turn me on to addictive substances?  Put it in a pretty glass, let me wear a great dress, and give it a cool name like “Tom Collins.”  Nyquil?  No thank-you.

Local Politician Pays Prostitute in City Services:  At first, I was intrigued.  I mean, the cost of natural resources is pretty high.  Has it come to this?  People whoring themselves out, so they can get some air conditioning?  Or maybe this lady was too lazy to cut her grass and Public works came over and took care of it.   Or maybe she just did some “favors” to get a ticket taken away.  But no, this lady was paid with a WATER BILL.  What in the name of the Lord was she thinking?  My last water bill was $17.25.   You did it with a stranger for the equivalent of twenty bucks.  I’m sorry, but that’s just straight0-up lazy.  You could probably pan-handle for that kind of cash.

Well, I guess you can tell people in Arkansas don’t have a lot to do.  Here is our version of the news.  Wouldn’t you want to scream at the TV too?

Please enjoy the rest of your regularly scheduled programming🙂

KM

PS: Tomorrow I’m letting the kids dunk me at the school fair.  Should be interesting. Mr.K has agreed to bring his camera.  I’ll put up the pics over the weekend if possible.

40 years ago you could get codine over the counter in Minnesota.  It was cough medicine and I used it daily.

I\’m glad someone else makes fun of the news as well and talks back to
the television. It has become so stupid that I can barely bring myself
to watch. Except when the fam and I want to laugh at something.

Oh, the dunking. I remember that. Operative word: remember.

We want pictures!!! of the dunking!!  The local news has hubby and I screaming or laughing every single day!  They have gone tabloid and not even good tabloid!  Arkansas news is one step lower than Kansas (though we\’re close I\’m afraid).
Regarding kids.  Girl, I do have one really screwed up kid, but let me tell ya.  Blondie is a DREAM COME TRUE.  And I mean that.  She was in gifted classes. She is a math whiz.  She is gorgeous!  She could have gone to college on scholarship playing flute or bassoon.  She is her own person and does not succumb to peer pressure.  Yet, she is the gal every girl wants to emulate.  She\’s witty and funny, caring and compassionate, but takes no shit from anyone.  I haven\’t talked about her much because she just hasn\’t been here with her class schedule.  But I will tell you, she was the toddler from hell.  If anything happens to this kid, they will have to bury me with her.  We tend to talk about the troubled ones more because of stress and concern.  Don\’t let that stop you.  (Besides, DQ\’s biological father, my ex, is a sociopath, so she already may have had a couple of strikes against her)  Anyway, I don\’t want to scare you girl!  But don\’t worry about having kids.  You are so dang young!  For heaven\’s sake, my sis that had the triplets last year is 37 years old!  You\’ve got plenty of time.  Don\’t sweat it.  (stepping down off of soap box)

Now, please post pictures ASAP of the dunking.  This I gotta see ; )

Also, you posting a pic of your "hubby\’s bootay" on the web is probably about the dang funniest thing you have ever done. What does he say of his newfound celebrity status?

I hardly ever watch tv anymore, but when I do I tend to consider it an interactive activity… I get it from watching tv with my gramma when I was little!

    Have fun getting dunked!

  12. . says:

Ouch! I think I would be throwing things. I never have watched much TV but the man is obsessed with the news. CNN newspapers, you name it. It is slightly strange. But I guess I would rather have him have a weird habit like that. Besides, that means I do not have to do any of the reading or watching, if there is something major going on he will inform me.

  13. WINDOW LIVE says:

The cough syrup thing isn\’t new except now they have the pills which are pretty potent.  A young man my son grew up with ended up in rehab over them.  I kept saying the same thing…COUGH SYRUP…YUK.  My daughter said I don\’t even like Halls cough drops.  Hey and my water bill was $60 bucks but at my age the guy would probably only pay 1/2 LOL!

  14. Betsy says:

Don\’t for get to include what you wore for your dunking!  I\’m sure you have the perfect outfit for such an event!

    Have a good weekend!

I\’m thinking for the dunk booth for you…old fasioned bathing suit, you know the ones w/ the like disk between the boobs, one piece. w/ a HUGE hat to wear around later, and of course some type of wrap…OH and the shoes….hmmmm….

I hate watching the news. Here, it is only about robberies, break-ins, murders, auto acctidents…. sad stuff. They try to scare you into watching. Sick, sad world.

  19. Alicia says:

LMFAO!!  I am SO with ya on the NYquil…I never did it growing up but some of my friends did…I can barely take the stuff when I\’m SICK let alone to get drunk!!

    HUGS!!  🙂

P.S> Good luck on the dunking!  And waht ensemble will you be wearing wet??

  20. Gina says:

I don\’t even want to drink cough syrup when I have a cough.  Gag.

I never watch the news… I get it from various sources, but never by watching it on TV… it\’s all just a bunch of crap… dragged out into an hour!

Brave girl….the dunk tank!! DO NOT WEAR WHITE!!!!

  23. Miss Beth says:

I think they have a hard time fniding things to fill the hour news cast, Some of the things you hear are crazy.
This week all you hear is the Hoffa story, isnt that getting old.
    Beth

  24. Marsha says:

It\’s bad enough that she would do that for a measly water bill, but I saw Mr. Mayor on the news & EEEWWWW!!

  25. K says:

Can\’t wait to see the pics… LOL

    Ciao bella,
    KC

  26. Jaysey says:

LOL!  Trust me, sister, the news here ain\’t any better.  In fact, once college football season starts, the college\’s football team/practices/games etc. cover the front page every day–every day!!  And on Sundays–front page and front page of the sports section (there\’s only a sports section on Sundays) and the front page of the "Local" section.  Are you kidding me??  Here, everything is local!  But our politicians must be more careful–they\’re not hanging with prostitutes.  In a big step, we just elected our first black mayor!  Woo Hoo!  Go Hicks!  Yup, that\’s us.  Dunk tank should be fun–enjoy…can\’t wait to see pics of a drenched Katy! 🙂

  27. Christine says:

Gee, I wish my water bill was only $20.00.  My last one was around $300.00.  Of course it is quarterly, but that is still $100.00 a month.
