When World’s Collide

What She Wore: peach, hooded shirt with a v-neck; white tee; khaki pants; brown sandals.

This week eighth-grade cheerleader tryouts started.  It was also the week that our students did presentations in English on the Rosa Parks Story.  The result?  Girls standing in the hallway cheering out (complete with hand motions) GO BLACK PEOPLE!!!!

Is it Friday yet?

PS: a girl that I know only peripherally has taken the first step toward leaving her abusive boyfriend.  As I’m sure many of you know, this is the most dangerous time for a woman in an abusive relationship.  So if you could, say a little prayer, send a good vibe or whatever–this girl could use all she could get.

About takedeux

In one summer I had a baby who was hospitalized for five weeks, quit my job, and moved back to my hometown. This blog is about starting over.

Gotta love kids. At least they\’re working on their projects and practicing their cheering at the same time. Talk about good time managment!

  9. Big Dog Mom says:

I\’ll light a candle for your friend at Mass this weekend . . . to us Catholics its a little stronger than just saying a prayer.  I hope she can get away from him.

I just love the excitement that comes along with cheerleader tryouts . . . my niece is going through that now.  Oh to be that carefree again!

Did you say send a "good vibe" to the gal leaving her boyfriend.  Look, i know she \’s going to be giving up sex for a bit but is this really the time to be talking about sex toys?  Really Katy.  This is serious stuff.

i threw up a little prayer…not like barfing….oh you know what i mean, if you know what i mean.

    When is your baby due?

  14. Jaysey says:

I love Go Black People!  They should come do that cheer at my all-white high school–they need it (see post about Black History month slave auction).  Good vibes to your friend!

  15. Tracy says:

LOL at the cheer, too funny!!

I\’ll be thinking of your friend.  On Sunday when I was busting A\’s friend outta the slammer, there was a lady there in night court who had just gotten abused by her husband (the daughter (who was at least 30) was there w/her and decided to share all this with me), the lady was shaking and everything (but not hurt).  I felt so bad for her, that has got to be so scary.

  16. Aimee says:

well i guess the kids were trying to make an effort right…they are not politically correct like the rest of us…lol…they are just honest…

as for your friend…she is in my thoughts…
:o) smiles are contagious…so pass one to people that you love and those you don\’t…and soon everyone will be smiling… :o)

  17. WINDOW LIVE says:

Been there done that.  Fortunately I had him locked up and that shook him up.
